Ken is delighted to step into the spotlight as Wilbur Turnblad with this production of Hairspray. Originally from Philly – “It’s just a hop down I-95 to Baldeemaur!” – this Bay Area theatre veteran recently worked here at San Francisco Playhouse as keyboardist and keyboard programmer for Into the Woods, where he also stepped in as The Narrator when called. Equally at home on stage and in the pit, recent acting credits include Side by Side by Sondheim and And the World Goes ‘Round (Lark Theater), Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd (Ray of Light Theatre), and the Old Soldier and the Judge in Parade (Palo Alto Players). As music director, he led Forever Plaid at the Fox Theatre (Broadway by the Bay) and Scrooge in Love! (42nd Street Moon). Keyboard and synth credits here at the Playhouse include Company, Sunday in the Park with George, Follies, A Chorus Line, As You Like It, Evita, and Waitress.
