Overview

SFPH Internships provide an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the day-to-day and long-term workings of a professional theater company. Each intern works closely with their supervisor to create learning goals at the start of the internship that include a special project within their department.  Interns are treated as part of the Playhouse family which operates under the company’s values of Empathy, Excellence, Innovation, Collaboration and the ever important Yes. All interns leave the program with new connections, strong skills and real life experiences to add to their overall education.

As a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization, SFPH internships are volunteer positions. Interns receive a small stipend to cover transportation costs ($150/mo). SFPH cannot arrange housing.

Internship Sessions

Internships are usually 15 – 40 hours per week (depending on department) and require a good amount of weekend and evening time. Regardless of department, all interns are expected to be available to assist with special events, Mainstage and Sandbox rehearsals, Sandbox Load-In and Strike, as well as other SFPH calendar events as they arise. Interns should expect to be at SFPH at least 3-5 days each week for 4-8 hours per day.

Internships Are Offered On The Following Basis*:

  • Fall – September 1 – December 16, 2016

  • Winter – December 27, 2016 – February 26, 2017

  • Spring – February 27 – May 28, 2017

  • Summer – May 29 – August 31, 2017

  • Full Season – September 1, 2016 – August 31, 2017
